Take-Two Interactive has filed federal subpoenas targeting Microsoft and Discord to unmask the identity behind recent Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay leaks.
The parent company of Rockstar Games is escalating its legal campaign against the persistent spread of unreleased footage from Grand Theft Auto 6. Following a fresh wave of video clips circulating across social platforms, Take-Two Interactive petitioned the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on August 20 to compel data disclosures from both Microsoft and Discord.
The newly leaked material features unfinished development builds showing protagonist Jason Duval performing various open-world activities, including driving high-performance vehicles, operating an aircraft, using a taser, and engaging in combat. In one widely circulated clip, a player shoots holes into a wall to spell out the word LEEK
, pointing to direct access to a playable build rather than isolated promotional assets.
Federal Subpoenas Target Microsoft and Discord Records
Under Digital Millennium Copyright Act subpoena requests filed by Take-Two’s counsel, both technology companies face a September 4 deadline to hand over comprehensive user logs, communication records, and associated telemetry. The publisher maintains that the requested data will be utilized strictly to identify alleged copyright infringers and protect intellectual property rights.
The scope of information demanded by the legal filing spans multiple digital accounts and communication channels. According to reporting from Kotaku, the Microsoft subpoena specifically requests all internal business and investigative records linked to the cyberleek
persona, alongside OneDrive contents associated with Grand Theft Auto or Rockstar Games. Discord must surrender user account details, registration emails, IP addresses, phone numbers, and linked external services for members communicating across several targeted servers.
Specific Servers and User Accounts Named in Court Filings
The legal documents submitted to the court identify a precise network of online aliases and chat spaces used to distribute the leaked files. RockstarINTEL noted that the targeted Discord servers and user handles listed in the court record include accounts operating under the names CYBERLEEK, CINEMATICROCKSTAR, Surfer24k™, cyberleek_west, and surwest, alongside the Ødyssey.gg platform and public brand guild.
Also included in the subpoena list is a Discord server associated with Matthew Judge, the Twitch and YouTube content creator known online as DarkViperAU. Judge quickly took to social media to address his inclusion in the legal documents.

“They’re asking for my discord info, I’m mentioned by name. I don’t know anything. That isn’t my editors discord. There aren’t even any clips of the leaks in either of my Discords. I am confused. I did say he can’t drive multiple times, so maybe I caused him to write ‘Cyberleek can’t drive’ on the most recent clips? Maybe he visited my Discord, I dunno. Rockstar hasn’t emailed me, I suspect if they thought I knew something personally they would do so. Everyone is talking about these leaks, I am not special, hopefully.”

Meme Coins and Ideological Demands Fuel the Leak Spree
The individual or collective operating under the CyberLeek banner has coupled the gameplay drops with an online manifesto. The persona’s published demands call on gaming companies to halt digital pre-orders, abandon restrictive single-player downloadable content practices, and issue public apologies, while simultaneously leveraging the leaked footage to promote a cryptocurrency meme coin designed to generate financial returns for the leakers.

Despite Take-Two’s aggressive copyright takedown efforts across online platforms, new media continues to surface. A fresh two-minute gameplay video emerged on August 21, showcasing advanced carjacking mechanics and hypercar handling in Vice City, underscoring the ongoing challenge publishers face when development builds escape secure internal networks ahead of official marketing schedules. Rockstar Games has scheduled an extended game preview via Netflix for August 27, leading up to the full title launch on November 19.
