National meteorological and disaster management authorities have issued simultaneous weather and hazard alerts covering widespread regions. The coordinated warnings span typhoon activity, torrential downpours, severe convective storms, mountain torrent risks, and geological hazards, prompting calls for immediate local precautions and emergency monitoring.

Typhoon Activity Across Northern Beibu Gulf and Eastern Coastal Waters

Multiple tropical systems are currently active across regional waters, led by the 19th typhoon of the season, named Zitan (classified as a tropical storm). Meteorological tracking situated its center over the Beibu Gulf waters southwest of Beihai, Guangxi. Packing maximum sustained winds near 23 meters per second and a central minimum pressure of 990 hectopascals, the storm remained nearly stationary before tracking northeastward toward coastal areas stretching from southeastern Guangxi to the western side of Guangdong’s Leizhou Peninsula.

Simultaneously, the 20th typhoon of the season, Jianlavi, strengthened from a tropical depression into a tropical storm before making landfall along the coastline of Zhangban Town in Quanzhou’s Taiwan Investment Zone, Fujian. Landfall winds reached 18 meters per second with a central pressure of 998 hectopascals. The system subsequently weakened back into a tropical depression while moving northwestward into Xianyou County, Fujian. A third system, the 18th typhoon Sader, developed into a super typhoon over the northwest Pacific east of Taipei, generating maximum sustained winds of 52 meters per second and maintaining a west-northwest trajectory toward the East China Sea.

Precipitation Forecasts and Torrent Hazards in Fujian and Guangxi

Intense rainfall accompanies the active tropical systems. Heavy downpours and torrential rain are targeting regions including southeastern Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan, northern Guangdong, western Hainan, northeastern Guangxi, southern Jiangxi, southern and western Hunan, and north-central Guizhou. Parts of southeastern Zhejiang, eastern Fujian, Taiwan, western Hainan, southern Hunan, and northern Guizhou face severe downpours, with localized areas in eastern Fujian expecting extreme rainfall totals reaching 250 to 350 millimeters.

The Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration maintained a red mountain torrent disaster warning alongside a geological disaster risk alert issued jointly with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Areas facing high mountain torrent risks include parts of western Inner Mongolia, northern Heilongjiang, and eastern Fujian. Local authorities have been instructed to execute real-time monitoring, flood warnings, and evacuation procedures for populations residing in high-risk zones.

Gale Warnings and Convective Storm Risks Across Coastal Shipping Lanes

Gale warnings extend across the Beibu Gulf, the greater South China Sea, the Taiwan Strait, the Bashi Channel, and waters near Taiwan and the Diaoyu Islands. Forecasters predict sustained winds of 6 to 8 levels with gusts reaching 9 to 10 levels, while portions of the northern Beibu Gulf and the eastern East China Sea experience winds scaling up to 9 to 10 levels with gusts hitting 11 to 12 levels.

Convective weather alerts highlight short-duration heavy precipitation exceeding 80 millimeters per hour in localized areas, accompanied by potential thunderstorms, hail, and high wind gusts exceeding 11 levels across northern and central Northeast China, southeastern North China, northwestern and eastern Jiangnan, and southern coastal regions.
