The Blood of Dawnwalker to Have 60FPS Mode via Day One Patch

Developer Rebel Wolves has confirmed that its upcoming PS5 and Xbox role-playing game The Blood of Dawnwalker will feature a 60 frames-per-second performance mode at launch on September 3, reversing course after a console video sparked widespread fan concern over graphical settings.

Console players worried about frame rates received a definitive answer when developer Rebel Wolves announced that The Blood of Dawnwalker will target 60 FPS on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X via a day-one patch. The studio pulled an original console footage video published last week offline from YouTube and set it to private after fans noticed the initial omission of a high frame rate option. Rebel Wolves has now taken the original console footage video published last week offline, setting it to Private on YouTube. Presumably, it’ll upload a new one with Performance Mode included. That clears that issue up, then for an RPG that has looked increasingly promising as its launch draws closer.

Rebel Wolves Responds to Fan Backlash Over Console Settings

The controversy began over the weekend when the studio released information on the game’s various graphical settings. One major omission, however, was the lack of a 60 FPS mode on console, which caused concern among fans. While balanced and quality modes targeting lower frame rates were present, the absence of a dedicated performance mode created immediate anxiety within the community. Studio representatives explained that testing was still underway when the initial information went live. Now, following the feedback, the developer has announced that it will release a Performance Mode as part of a day 1 patch, which will target 60 FPS.

“On Friday, we answered your questions about console performance with what we knew we could confidently deliver at launch,” wrote @DawnwalkerGame account on X. “Performance Mode was already in the works, but it was still being tested. We simply weren’t ready to promise it yet.”

The developers credited player feedback with driving the final push to validate the mode before the game hits stores. It was clear how much this mattered to many of you, so the studio focused on finishing the next round of tests, and those results gave them the confidence needed to confirm Performance Mode for Day 1.

Pedigree and Expectations Ahead of the September Launch

The Blood of Dawnwalker will release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on September 3. The project is directed by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who was The Witcher 3’s game director and head of production/secondary game director for Cyberpunk 2077.

(PS5) The Blood of Dawnwalker looks Absolutely Incredible on PS5 – 4K 60FPS Ultra Realistic Gameplay

From talent that made The Witcher 3, the experience looks a lot like the modern RPG masterpiece, except here you play as a vampire with limited time to rescue your family. In a recent hands-on preview, VGC’s Jordan Middler said Dawnwalker instantly became one of my most anticipated games after four hours of play.

Middler added that The Blood of Dawnwalker doesn’t feel like the first game from a new studio, noting that there’s a level of experience in the bones of this game that is evident from the opening moments. While its developer’s pedigree is unimpeachable, the new thing from the guys who made the amazing thing is rarely as impressive as this. It’s coming out at a very crowded time, but positive previews have made it stand out from the pack, and the inclusion of day-one 60 FPS support removes a major hurdle for players evaluating console performance.
