Saquon Shugars won a 5,000-pound weaponized steel cage match on the August 25, 2026, episode of WWE NXT, while a summit ahead of the upcoming Heatwave event descended into chaos as Nattie and Jaida Parker traded sharp words over an upcoming submission match.
The road to WWE NXT Heatwave hit a volatile peak on August 25, 2026, with high-stakes matches and backstage confrontations setting the stage for the weekend card. The weekly broadcast featured a bruising steel cage collision, cruiserweight championship action, and a fiery exchange between Nattie and Jaida Parker.
Saquon Shugars Survives Weaponized Cage Match Against Dion Lennox
The broadcast opened with a physical statement as Saquon Shugars and Dion Lennox clashed inside a structure billed by Vic Joseph as containing nearly 5,000 pounds of steel and featuring trash cans, chairs, kendo sticks, and tables. Lennox absorbed a missile dropkick after Shugars recovered from early pressure, then answered by scoop slamming Shugars onto an upside-down chair set.
The match hit a strange moment when Shugars attempted a sunset bomb to put Lennox through a table, but one of the legs was not fully set up so the table collapsed, which took some air out of the balloon. Recovery was swift, however, as Joseph and Booker had a good cover citing Shugars’ injured knee, and Shugars placed a trash can over Lennox and kicked him, leading to the saddest table break ever before Shugars climbed to the top of the cage and hit a crossbody and pinned Lennox.
Nattie and Jaida Parker Clash Over Heatwave Submission Match
Tensions boiled over when Nattie is in the ring and explains coming to NXT to fight Jaida Parker and has all the tools but is wasting her potential. Nattie woke her up, and it worked and turned a “possibility” into a “reality”. Parker comes out, and she did question herself, but she sees through her and dismisses Nattie having the right intentions.
Nattie said, I want a submission match with you…BITCH
at Heatwave, to which Parker states she will Highkey wax that ass
.
Championship Bouts and Tournament Push on the August 25 Card

Meanwhile, an eight-man tag-team match saw Lexis King, Charlie Dempsey, Stacks Lorenzo & Uriah Connors over Romeo Moreno, Noam Dar, Sean Legacy & Dorian Van Dux (Recommended).

Furthermore, Kali Armstrong over Zaria in a non-title match where winning added her to Zaria and Wren Sinclair’s match at Heatwave for the unified titles.

Backstage Ambitions and Zilla Fatu’s NXT Debut
Backstage, Tony D’Angelo is interviewed by Blake Howard. D’Angelo states he’s the only NXT Grand Slam champion and mentioned Oba Femi and Bron Breakker battling to determine “the future,” but he put Femi down first, adding that his three opponents at Heatwave are coming for his title, and he beat three to get the title and will beat these three to keep it. Elsewhere, Sarah Schreiber is on location to interview Vanity Project at a bowling alley where they sat around and buried Myles Borne and Tavion Heights while bragging about their connection as a “family,” taking turns bowling with no one hitting a strike as the others gossiped with Schreiber over water, stating they will win the North American and tag titles this Sunday.
Interest also centered on Zilla Fatu, who appeared in a video that showed off the chain he wore last week in honor of his father, Umaga. He said people will remember his first name rather than his last, made a joke about the Nepo/Nympho baby line, and admits, I get excited when I talk
ahead of competing for the NXT World Title in his debut match THIS SUNDAY at Heatwave.
