Microsoft has announced the first wave of games joining Xbox Game Pass for September 2026, featuring seven new titles. The lineup includes a major survival addition with RuneScape: Dragonwilds, the arrival of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and the latest entry in the Virtua Fighter series.
Major September Additions
The most significant title in this wave is RuneScape: Dragonwilds, which arrives on September 15 for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This co-operative survival adventure is set on the forgotten continent of Ashenfall, where players must gather, craft, and build to uncover ancient secrets and eventually confront the Dragon Queen. It will be available for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers.
On September 8, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War joins the service across Cloud, Console, and PC for Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass members. Developed by Raven Software, the game features a single-player campaign that takes players to iconic global locales, including Vietnam, East Berlin, Turkey, and the Soviet KGB headquarters, to encounter historical figures.
Other notable arrivals include:
- Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage: Launching September 10 for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The fighting game introduces a World Stage single-player mode and online multiplayer featuring rollback netcode and cross-play.
- SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed: A day-one release arriving September 3 for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This competitive co-op platformer sequel supports online races for up to eight players.
- The Royal Writ: A medieval roguelike deck builder arriving September 10 for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, and PC.
- Dice a Million: A roguelike deck builder arriving September 4 for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, and PC.
- Shelldiver: An incremental game about a turtle fishing for jellyfish, available as of September 1 for Cloud, Console, and PC.
Game Updates and Trials
Several titles are receiving updates or limited-time access. TCG Card Shop Simulator will officially leave Game Preview and launch its 1.0 full game release on September 15 across Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, and PC. This update allows players to host tournaments and build decks for the Tetramon TCG.
Additionally, EA Sports NHL 27 will offer a 10-hour early access trial via EA Play starting September 4 on Console. The trial features an overhauled broadcast package and the new Connected Franchise mode, with progress carrying over if the full game is purchased.
