Comedian and creator Amelia Dimoldenberg has announced she will end her hit interview series Chicken Shop Date after more than a decade. The presenter revealed the decision in an Instagram post, marking the conclusion of a web series that featured over 100 episodes and attracted hundreds of millions of views on YouTube.

Dimoldenberg started the concept as a column interviewing grime artists for a culture magazine called The Cut while involved with a local youth club, before moving the format online in 2014. Framed as an awkward date in fried chicken shops across London, the series evolved from a challenging project where publicists initially declined YouTube placements into a massive media platform. Dimoldenberg told the Edinburgh TV festival that the show now ranks alongside primetime television and radio programmes like Graham Norton for celebrities seeking media cut-through during album or movie rollouts.

Dimoldenberg wrote in her announcement, adding: I never thought I'd stop Chicken Shop Date, I thought maybe it would be a part of me forever, and in some way it always will, but I feel like it's now time to move on from this adventure and on to a new one.

Over its run, the series featured interviews with rappers, actors, and global music icons. Memorable episodes included appearances by Jack Harlow, whose 2021 appearance pushed the show to new heights, alongside viral interactions with Andrew Garfield, Louis Theroux, and Daniel Kaluuya. Her most recent interviewees included Paul McCartney, Zara Larsson, and Conan O’Brien.

Beyond her work on the digital series, Dimoldenberg has expanded her portfolio into mainstream broadcasting and writing. She has served as the official red carpet correspondent for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, presenting the Oscars red carpet for three successive years, and has reported from the Golden Globe Awards.
She is currently developing a teen drama series for the BBC that she described as her version of the television show Skins. Additionally, she is writing a Hollywood romantic comedy in which she is slated to star as a journalist who finds romance with a celebrity after interviewing them.
