According to official schedules, Modi’s morning meetings at Hyderabad House began with an official photo opportunity alongside Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali at 10:00 am, followed by his discussion with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at 10:30 am. Subsequent morning talks included Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at 11:00 am and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung at 11:30 am.
The BRICS Framework and Global South Integration
Malaysia’s involvement in the New Delhi gathering stems from its status as a BRICS Partner Country, participating at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi. The Malaysian Foreign Ministry noted via a post on X that the Prime Minister arrived in New Delhi on 11 September 2026 to begin his Working Visit to India, participating in the BRICS Leaders’ Summit 2026 on 12–13 September 2026. Wisma Putra stated, “The Summit is the highest-level platform of BRICS, bringing together Heads of State and Government of BRICS Member and Partner Countries to discuss strategic issues relating to global governance, sustainable development, economic cooperation, trade and investment, digital transformation, and global challenges affecting developing countries.”
The discussions build directly upon Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Malaysia in February 2026, reviewing ongoing progress in bilateral cooperation across a range of areas. Ministry of External Affairs official Randhir Jaiswal shared details of the meeting on X, noting that the leaders reviewed bilateral progress following the earlier visit.
Upcoming Kerala Itinerary and Markaz Central Campus Visit
Beyond the diplomatic core of the capital, the Malaysian Prime Minister’s five-day itinerary includes a journey to Keralam after attending the BRICS Summit in New Delhi. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to visit the Markaz Central Campus on Sunday as part of his trip.
During his time at the campus, he will hold discussions with All India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama general secretary Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar, attend a special prayer gathering, and participate in a reception at the Markaz Convention Centre. A discussion involving prominent personalities from the religious, political and social spheres is also scheduled, followed by a visit to Madavoor C.M. Valiyullahi Maqam alongside Mr. Kanthapuram. Elaborate security arrangements and traffic regulations will be put in place in and around the Markaz campus in view of the Prime Minister’s visit. This marks a return visit for the Malaysian leader, who previously was at Markaz in September 2022, a few weeks before he became Malaysia’s Prime Minister.
