The first year of the new deal for the 2027-28 season is set at approximately $55.7 million. That figure marks a notable reduction from the $62.6 million cap projection originally mapped out for Curry in that window, amounting to roughly a 10 percent pay sacrifice for the sake of roster construction.
That reduction gives Golden State a projected path to at least $60 million in cap space by the summer of 2027. The financial breathing room positions general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and CEO Joe Lacob to pursue roster upgrades, execute trades, and retain key pieces without running afoul of the league’s harshest penalties.

Curry’s commitment arrives as the franchise looks to rebound from a challenging 37-45 campaign in 2025-26 that ended in the play-in tournament.
