As of Tuesday, the running domestic cume for Spider-Man: Brand New Day stood at an estimated $671.2M, fueled by a steady $17M Monday haul. Analysts expect the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed feature to comfortably clear the $700 million mark domestically, making it just the seventh movie in history to cross that threshold.
Globally, the blockbuster has charged into the top 20 films of all time with a $1.67 billion haul in just 10 days.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Crosses $1 Billion Globally
While web-slingers dominate domestic charts, The Odyssey has crossed $1 billion globally, reaching $1.1 billion. The milestone secures its place as Christopher Nolan’s highest-grossing film ever on the global scale, outpacing the lifetime global total of The Dark Knight Rises.
The film pulled in $31.5 million in its fourth weekend, marking the 10th-best fourth weekend in box office history. Its domestic total stands at $461.1 million, keeping it well ahead of historical comparables as it heads toward a projected final domestic gross between $560-580 million.
New August Releases Enter the Domestic Ring
As the summer slate rolls into late August, studios are introducing fresh titles to capture remaining seasonal crowds. Warner Bros. is launching the PG-13 dinosaur feature The End of Oak Street across an estimated 3,400 theaters, with expectations for a start between $20M-$25M on this $80M net production.
Paramount and Spin Master are rolling out PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie to 3,500 sites following a strong $25M overseas preview run across 30 territories. Meanwhile, Angel Studios is bowing the political drama The Brink of War in 2,000 theaters, featuring Jeff Daniels as Ronald Reagan attempting to secure a nuclear deal with Jared Harris’ Mikhail Gorbachev.
