Filming has officially wrapped on the upcoming DC Studios sequel Man of Tomorrow, according to filmmaker and DC Studios chief James Gunn. The Man of Tomorrow production took 93 days to complete and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 9, 2027.
Principal photography on the high-profile superhero film concluded following a 93-day shoot, edging past the filming duration of its predecessor, Superman. Gunn announced the completion milestone on social media, expressing appreciation for the individuals who brought the project together.

Cast Returns and New Additions for the 2027 Release
David Corenswet returns to lead the cast as Clark Kent following his appearance in this summer’s Supergirl. Nicholas Hoult reprises his role as Lex Luthor, joining a sprawling ensemble of returning and newly introduced comic book characters.
The production features Lars Eidinger stepping into the role of the villain Brainiac, alongside returning cast members Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher. The expansive hero roster also brings back Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flagg Sr., alongside Milly Alcock as Supergirl.
Further expanding the shared cinematic universe, Aaron Pierre transitions his role as John Stewart from HBO’s Lanterns to the big screen, while Xolo Maridueña returns as Blue Beetle following the character’s 2023 film. Additional cast members include Matthew Lillard, Andre Royo, Sinqua Walls, and Adria Arjona in an unconfirmed role reported as potentially being Maxima or Wonder Woman.

Production imagery shared alongside the wrap announcement sparked immediate discussion among comic book enthusiasts. One distributed photograph featured Hoult swimming in a lake on location alongside the director, prompting Gunn to note that the actor jumped in the lake after [the] last shot.
The water setting triggered online speculation that the scene points toward Salvation, the forested prison dimension featured in the second season of Peacemaker. Gunn also shared an image of the project’s production supervisors stationed near video village, writing that The brain trust (except Brian) around video village during the whole shoot. Addressing Development Rumors Amid Industry Shifts
Alongside production updates, Gunn pushed back against online rumors concerning the broader slate of DC Studios projects amid corporate merger talks. In response to fan inquiries regarding rumors that director Andy Muschietti’s upcoming Batman feature The Brave and the Bold had been put on hold during discussions involving Paramount and Warner Bros., Gunn clarified that development remains active.
