Ducati Lenovo Team rider Marc Marquez claimed a dominant victory at the MotorLand Aragon circuit in Alcaniz on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The seven-time MotoGP champion capitalized on his strong history at the anti-clockwise Spanish venue, finishing 1.754 seconds clear of the chasing pack to secure his fourth win of the season. All of those victories have come within the last six races as he reignited his title bid in spectacular fashion, contributing to a sixth victory from six races for Ducati in Aragon between sprints and Grands Prix.

The triumph marked the 33-year-old’s eighth victory at MotorLand and his third straight win at the Aragon Grand Prix, reinforcing his superiority on anti-clockwise circuits on home turf. Combined with his victory in Saturday’s sprint race, Marquez claimed maximum points over the weekend to inject fresh momentum into his championship campaign.

The race opened with Aprilia riders Marco Bezzecchi, starting from pole position, and Jorge Martin seizing a 1-2 advantage off the start, though Marquez quickly worked his way past Martin into second place. Bezzecchi built an early lead of eight-tenths of a second before the defining moment of the grand prix unfolded on lap six.

Marquez launched a high-speed dive at Turn 15, resulting in the two machines brushing wheels exiting the corner as the Ducati rider snatched the lead. The contested corner allowed KTM rider Pedro Acosta to slip through into second place, while Bezzecchi was knocked down to third. Once I got the lead I put my foot down and turned up the pressure and opened the gap so that there would be no doubt about victory, Marquez said.

By lap 14, Marquez had extended his advantage over Acosta to more than a second, stretching the gap to 1.4 seconds by lap 16 before crossing the finish line nearly 1.8 seconds ahead of the field.

Bezzecchi acknowledged the pace of the winner after settling for third place. I heard Marc Marquez’s engine when we were side by side on the straight, but with his experience and the extra power of his bike, he was able to get the better of me, Bezzecchi said. It is a shame I lost the second straight away to Pedro. I would have preferred to fight harder for runner-up, but I am still very happy. He added regarding the close quarters: I heard his bike on turn 15 so I tried to cross the line, but when we were close, the slipstream was pushing each other very much and it was strange. Marc, with the experience that he has and the speed that he has, today he was unbeatable.

The maximum-points haul in Aragon significantly tightens the title fight. Jorge Martin, who finished the grand prix in fifth place, maintains the championship lead with 256 points, but Marquez has climbed to second in the standings with 237 points after leapfrogging Bezzecchi.

Marquez now trails his compatriot and fellow Spaniard by just 19 points, while Bezzecchi slipped to third place in the table with 232 points, sitting 24 points behind Martin. Fabio Di Giannantonio holds fourth in the championship standings, while injured Japanese rider Ai Ogura did not compete and dropped to fifth in the standings.

The race featured notable attrition among the front-runners. Francesco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli both crashed out of contention during the event, while Raul Fernandez retired to the garage.

Behind the podium finishers, Marc’s brother Alex Marquez of Gresini Racing crossed the line in fourth position ahead of Martin, who rounded out the top five. Fermin Aldeguer and Fabio Di Giannantonio finished further down the order, and South Africa’s Brad Binder finished 10th.
