Range Rover Reveals First All-Electric SUV with 535 km Range and 542 HP

Range Rover has officially pulled the cover off its first all-electric SUV, the Range Rover Electric. The flagship luxury vehicle pairs a 118.5 kWh dual-motor setup generating 542 horsepower with an 800-volt architecture, delivering a 535 km driving range and fast charging that recovers up to 201 km in ten minutes.

The debut marks a decisive turn for the brand into battery-powered luxury vehicles.

Dual-Motor Performance and Acceleration Specs

Powering the Range Rover Electric are two permanent-magnet electric motors, each outputting 260 kW to deliver a combined 542 horsepower. That output translates to a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 4.3 seconds, alongside an 80 to 120 km/h passing acceleration time of 2.7 seconds.

When placed beside segment rivals, the vehicle stakes out a distinct middle ground. The BMW iX M60 reaches higher with 619 horsepower and clears 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, while the Mercedes EQS SUV matches close at 544 horsepower with a 4.6-second time.

Battery Architecture and Fast-Charging Capabilities

Energy storage comes from a double-block lithium-ion battery boasting a capacity of 118.5 kWh. Built on an 800-volt electrical backbone, the system handles direct current charging up to 350 kW.

That high-voltage design translates directly to charging speed on the road. Plugging into a compatible high-power charger recovers 10 to 80 percent of the battery in 22 minutes, or adds 201 km of range in a ten-minute stop. By comparison, the Mercedes EQS SUV takes 31 minutes to hit an 80 percent charge, and the BMW iX requires roughly 35 minutes.

Off-Road Hardware and Intelligent Traction Control

Electrification has not stripped away the vehicle’s terrain credentials. The setup relies on an intelligent torque distribution system paired with integrated traction management to monitor and curb wheel slip at speeds 100 times faster than internal combustion engines.

A single-pedal driving mode aids launch control on slopes up to 33 degrees, while climbing grades up to 45 degrees remains achievable without extra driver input. These mechanical capabilities position the vehicle to contend directly with high-performance battery SUVs that emphasize utility alongside speed.

Evolution of the Range Rover Sport Lineage

The wider family overhaul also includes the third-generation Range Rover Sport, which shares core underlying platforms with its larger stablemate. While earlier iterations offered an optional third row accommodating up to seven passengers, the current Sport drops that configuration entirely, despite stretching 7 cm longer than its predecessor to reach 4.95 meters.

Aerodynamic refinement plays a central role in the Sport architecture, trimming the drag coefficient down to 0.29—a 15 percent improvement over the outgoing model. Exterior details favor clean lines, featuring the thinnest headlamps ever created by Land Rover alongside flush door handles and wind-shield frames.
