High Street resident Lynn Doak described hearing noises on Monday evening, recounting that she heard “three pops”. Doak told the Rotorua Daily Post, What I heard was two people arguing, a man and a woman, and a lady screamed. I said to my husband, ‘Those bloody kids and their crackers again’, because they come up the street and throw crackers up your drive. A 79-year-old man who had lived on the street his whole life said he was in shock since learning what had happened. He noted that the people living in the house seemed to have recently moved in and that he had seen new children around the street.
