Metropolitan Police Department Officer Colton Pulsipher died on Interstate 15 northeast of Las Vegas, while unnamed officers suffered fatal collisions in the UK.
While off-duty and heading home from a shift, 29-year-old Officer Colton Pulsipher died in a crash with a wrong-way driver on northbound Interstate 15 northeast of Las Vegas. Concurrently, separate policing communities in the United Kingdom mourned the deaths of officers killed in a wrong-way incident in the Redcar constituency.
Tragedy on Interstate 15 Claims Las Vegas Officer Colton Pulsipher
The fatal Las Vegas collision unfolded just after 12:25 a.m. at mile marker 75 on northbound Interstate 15, near the Valley of Fire/Tribal Plaza Exit. According to a Nevada Highway Patrol release, Pulsipher and another man died at the scene. A woman involved in the crash was transported by Mercy Air with injuries described as not life-threatening.
Pulsipher was assigned to the traffic bureau’s tourist safety division. He leaves behind his wife, Ashlee, and their three young children: Carlee, 5, Brett, 2, and Jonny, 11 months, according to a memorial page established by Behind the Blue, a nonprofit dedicated to providing relief to Southern Nevada law enforcement.
Following the crash, law enforcement colleagues participated in a solemn procession transporting Pulsipher from the scene to the Clark County coroner’s office. Grief-stricken Metropolitan Police Department officers embraced one another outside the coroner’s office as the procession arrived.
Remembering an Adventurous Family Man and Missionary
Friends and colleagues remembered Pulsipher not just through his badge, but through his deep personal connections. Alana Reeb, who grew up close to Pulsipher when he served as a missionary in the Denver area for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, described him as “like a son” to her. Born in the Moapa Valley, Pulsipher was remembered for his adventurous spirit, love of singing, and strong sense of humor.

He still lives in our hearts,
Reeb said, adding that his profound care for others likely guided him toward a career in law enforcement.
Steven Grammas, president of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association, noted that he knew Pulsipher through union representation in a prior use of force case. Grammas described the fallen officer simply as a really nice kid.
Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo also addressed the tragedy on social media, writing that This is a tragic, heartbreaking loss.
International Grief Over Wrong-Way Tragedies
While Nevada officials mourned Pulsipher, grief rippled across the Atlantic following a separate wrong-way crash in the UK. Anna Turley, MP for the Redcar constituency where the crash happened, emphasized the sudden nature of the loss.

Turley added that Their loss will be felt deeply by their loved ones, fellow officers and right across the communities they served.
Local leaders, including Eston ward councillors David Taylor and Stephen Martin, shared that they were deeply saddened by the unimaginable tragedy.
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen issued a statement highlighting the risks emergency service personnel face daily. Our police officers are heroes who put everything on the line to protect us, and I know all of Teesside will want to pay tribute to the officers and other emergency service workers involved for the bravery they have shown in responding to this incident,
Houchen said.
Support Networks Open Public Mourning Areas
In Las Vegas, the Metropolitan Police Department established a designated area within the lobby of the Northeast Area Command for the public to pay respects. The space remains open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ahead of Pulsipher’s scheduled funeral.
Cleveland Police Federation chairwoman Lauren Somerville captured the shared grief felt across policing families internationally, stating that Words cannot describe the pain the Cleveland Police family are feeling today.
Agencies on both sides of the ocean continue to offer support to the grieving relatives left behind by sudden highway accidents.
