Resolution and Framerate Settings on Switch 2

Technical performance on the new hardware features two distinct graphics settings outlined in a recent forum update. Players can choose between a resolution-focused setup and a higher framerate target depending on their preferred playstyle and display capabilities. According to an FAQ on Blizzard’s forums, there’ll be two graphics settings in the Age of Hatred Collection on Switch 2. This includes a “Quality Mode, running at 1440p in docked, andPerformance Mode”, targeting 40fps across both modes.

Quality Mode: Runs at 30 fps and 1080p in handheld mode, scaling to 1440p in docked mode.

Performance Mode: Targets 40 fps at 1080p in both handheld and docked configurations.

Running the docked Performance Mode requires a compatible display with a refresh rate of 120Hz or higher. Blizzard has also detailed some other features in the Switch 2 version of Diablo IV. This includes touch screen controls, mouse and keyboard support via USB, controller rumble, multiple accessibility features, and GameChat support.

Pricing and Distribution Details

The collection arrives on the platform priced at $69.99 / £62.99. Players purchasing physical copies should note that the retail release for Switch 2 is being distributed as a code-in-box release rather than containing a traditional game card.

And if you’re an existing player, you can also continue your adventure with cross-progression. You’ll need to link your Battle.net account for this. Cross-play is also supported, and purchases across systems carry over.

Online Connectivity Requirements

Blizzard has also clarified you can play without a Switch Online Membership, but you’ll still need an internet connection. Diablo IV is an online game, so an internet connection is still required.
