The Instituto de Hidrología, Meteorología y Estudios Ambientales (Ideam) issued its forecast for the weekend, indicating that weather conditions will vary by region across Colombia. According to the special communication issued on Friday, September 18, expected precipitation may be accompanied by electrical storms and will have a greater presence during the afternoons and nights.

While moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in several departments, other areas will experience dry weather and continued high maximum temperatures. These elevated maximum temperatures are anticipated in sectors of the Caribbean, Pacific, Orinoquia, Amazonia, and inter-Andean valleys. Saturday is projected to be the day with the highest precipitation activity, while dry conditions will be maintained in the center and south of the Andean region, the south of Orinoquia, and a large part of Amazonia.
Departmental Breakdown and Sunday Outlook
The forecast for Saturday indicates that rains of varying intensity will affect departments including La Guajira, Cesar, Magdalena, Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre, Córdoba, Urabá, and Antioquia. Additional rainfall is expected in Norte de Santander, Santander, Boyacá, Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío, Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Cauca, and Nariño, alongside Arauca, Vichada, Guainía, Guaviare, Vaupés, and Amazonas. Light rains are forecast for Cundinamarca, Tolima, Huila, Casanare, Meta, Caquetá, and Putumayo, while the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina will see partially to mostly cloudy skies with potential rain toward the south and west.
On Sunday, dry conditions will prevail during much of the day in parts of Orinoquia and Amazonia, as well as the center and south of the Andean region and the east of the Caribbean region. However, after midday and into the night, rains of varied intensity are expected in La Guajira, Cesar, Magdalena, Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre, Córdoba, Antioquia, Norte de Santander, Santander, Boyacá, Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío, Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Nariño, and western Arauca. Drizzles are anticipated in Cundinamarca, Tolima, Huila, Casanare, Meta, Vichada, Guainía, Guaviare, Caquetá, Putumayo, Vaupés, and Amazonas.
