Yet economic disputes involving tariffs, technology restrictions, and rare-earth supplies remain on the table.

According to a readout from China’s state news agency Xinhua, Xi pressed Trump to actively oppose Taiwanese independence and handle cross-strait issues with caution. The White House did not immediately release its own summary of the Taiwan talks.
The discussion follows previous concerns from allies over Trump treating a $14bn arms package to Taiwan as a very good negotiating chip
after keeping the shipment in abeyance following a presidential visit to China in May. Senate Democrats urged the administration on Thursday to immediately deliver both the $1.3bn in funds and the $14bn arms sale.
Meanwhile, the ongoing conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran also featured in broader discussions. Washington has sought Beijing's economic influence to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ease global energy pressures, but the summit produced no breakthrough on the matter. Xi instead backed efforts for Washington and Tehran to return to an interim agreement.

Between courses, Trump invited attendees off script to tour the construction site of his new White House ballroom on the South Lawn.
