Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology Center Hosts Researchers Night

Science and art merge on September 25, 2026, as the Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology Center (CPSBB) in the Trakia residential district of Plovdiv opens its doors for the European Researchers’ Night 2026. The day-long event runs until 22:00 h, offering hands-on laboratories and interactive artistic programs designed for visitors of all ages.

Interactive Workshops at the CPSBB Facility

Located at 14 St. Knyaz Boris I – Pokraschitel Blvd., the facility invites guests to step directly into the role of researchers. According to organizers, visitors can participate in specialized workshops to extract DNA from apples and strawberries or taste liquid-nitrogen-prepared ice cream.

Inside the labs, doctoral students demonstrate enzyme mechanics and plant protein identification. Additional sessions feature 3D printing ateliers and lectures comparing biological cells to successful business structures.

Cosmic Escape Rooms and AMTII Performances

Artistic programming fills the schedule through the afternoon and evening. Students from the AMTII arts school designed an escape room titled The Star Archive of Marie Curie, built aboard an improvised spaceship. Design students present a space-themed fashion show, while Intro Quartet provides a musical backdrop alongside the Academic Dance Troupe.

For younger participants aged 7 to 12, a Young Electrician workshop teaches electrical schematic reading, complemented by art ateliers where children can plant date pits to take home a small home palm.
