Four decades after her breakthrough on Australian television and local football club stages, Kylie Minogue is bringing her global pop career full circle.

Minogue’s 20-minute set is scheduled to begin at 1:39pm AEST, directly preceding the 2:30pm AEST opening bounce between Fremantle and Brisbane.

From Fitzroy Roots to Global Pop Stardom at the MCG

The performance marks a poignant return for the singer, whose earliest musical steps included an appearance at a Fitzroy Football Club benefit concert at age 18 while she was starring on the television soap opera Neighbours. That early local gig caught the attention of music scouts, launching an international career that produced numerous chart-topping albums and a Grammy Award.

Minogue joins an eclectic roster of recent Grand Final headliners, following international acts such as Snoop Dogg in 2025, Katy Perry in 2024, KISS in 2023, and Robbie Williams in 2022. She is joined on the 2026 program by fellow Australian performers including Melbourne singer-songwriter G Flip, musical theater performer Michael Paynter handling the national anthem, and veteran entertainer Mike Brady performing Up There Cazaly during the retiree motorcade.
