Aniplex Confirms Fate/strange Fake Season 2 Is in Production

Aniplex officially confirmed during Anime NYC that a second season of the anime Fate/strange Fake is in production, five months after the 13-episode first run concluded.

La brutal y caótica Guerra del Santo Grial en territorio estadounidense está muy lejos de llegar a su fin. The chaotic US-based Holy Grail War is heading back to screens. Following the conclusion of the 13-episode first season—which aired between January and March of 2026—producers have officially greenlit a continuation for the turbulent fantasy franchise.

Anime NYC Reveals Teaser Trailer and Poster Art for Season 2

The continuation was announced at the Anime NYC festival, where Aniplex treated attendees to a first look at the sequel through a promotional video and poster art. The visuals highlight the broken and intertwined figures of key characters Ayaka, Saber, and Sigma. While the studio behind the initial run, A-1 Pictures, was responsible for the animation of the first season under the direction of Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume, with a script by Daisuke Ohigashi and music by Hiroyuki Sawano, the creators have not yet specified whether this complete team will remain for work on the sequel, though it is presumed they will return.

The first season left off just as the relationship between Ayaka and Saber began to deepen, according to voice cast reflections. Voice actors Kana Hanazawa as Ayaka Sajyou, Yuki Ono as Saber (Richard), and Gakuto Kajiwara as Sigma expressed enthusiasm for exploring where the narrative takes their characters next, with Yuki Ono and Gakuto Kajiwara confessing they were anxious to see the response to the conflict’s outcome and hoping Sigma’s path finds the reward he deserves.

Author Ryohgo Narita Reacts to the Scale of the Adaptation

The franchise originates from light novels written by Ryohgo Narita (famous creator of titles like Durarara!! and Baccano!) and illustrated by Shizuki Morii, spinning out of what began as an April Fool’s joke into a fully fledged spin-off with a rapidly published manga adaptation alongside the anime. Set in Snowfield, Nevada, years after the Fifth Holy Grail War in Japan, rumors of a new Grial bring Masters and Servants to the city to prepare for a distorted and imperfect copy of the ritual that breaks traditional rules, summons unusual Servants, and unleashes a massive, unpredictable conflict born among shadowy secrets.

Ryogo Narita stated that even he, as the original author, looks at this story and wonders how it is ever going to be adapted, adding that the anime team found the best possible answer and noting that as a spectator, he looks forward to the result with great anticipation.

The light novel creator admitted that he could barely imagine how some of the upcoming events would be brought to the screen, praising the production crew for finding the best answer, while original character designer Shizuki Morii thanked fans for their constant support and noted the strong motivation within the production.

Release Date Speculation and Studio Scheduling Pressures

Despite the excitement surrounding the new footage, the initial teaser left fans with one glaring omission: no release window or episode count was provided. The promotional video included only the phrase Álzate contra las reglas and omitted any mention of a potential launch window, leaving the community to debate when the anime will return.

【FSF】Fate/strange Fake — New Series CONFIRMED (Anime NYC 2026)

Industry observers note that while A-1 Pictures is presumed to return, the company also works on the final season of Mashle (premiering in January), the adaptation of Bless (arriving in 2027), and presumably the Solo Leveling sequel movie. Consequently, while some viewers are waiting for a return in 2027, there are reasons to think the wait could stretch until 2028 due to such a tight schedule. Currently, the first season can be enjoyed on Crunchyroll, and the new episodes will most likely be added to the platform’s catalog as well.
