KAA Gent Draws Danish and Swiss Champions in League Phase

KAA Gent can officially map out its European schedule after learning a varied slate of opponents for the Conference League league phase. The Belgian club secured pairings with several notable European regulars alongside a pair of surprising domestic title winners from across the continent.

Among the standout fixtures for Gent are matches against Danish champions Aarhus, which reached this stage after navigating previous rounds, and Swiss surprise package Thun. The club will also face Serbian side Red Star Belgrade at home, travel to Portugal to meet Braga, play Norwegian side Brann at home, and make a trip to Finland to play KuPS.

De Buffalo’s treffen met het Deense Aarhus en het Zwitserse Thun twee verrassende landskampioenen in de League Phase. Met het Servische Rode Ster Belgrado en een bezoek aan het rotsenstadion van het Portugese Braga ontmoet het enkele Europese vaste klanten. Een nieuwkomer is dan weer Aarhus, vorig jaar verrassend landskampioen in Denemarken. Alleen sneuvelde de revelatie in de voorrondes van de Champions League tegen Sabah en bleek nadien ook Benfica te sterk in de Europa League. Met Thun staan de Buffalo’s straks tegenover een andere verrassende landskampioenen. De stuntploeg kroonde zich tegen alle verwachtingen in tot landskampioen in Zwitserland. Met het Noorse Brann is er nog een duel tegen een ploeg die al enkele seizoenen hoge ogen gooit in de schaduw van Bødo/Glimt. Er wacht ook nog een verplaatsing naar KuPS, dat al een paar keer de landstitel in Finland pakte.

STVV Lands Home Fixture Against Ajax

STVV earned a marquee home fixture against Dutch record champions Sporza at Stayen. The Truienaars transition to the Conference League following an exit from the Europa League.

Beyond the high-profile visit from Amsterdam, STVV’s schedule features home matches against Norwegian side Brann and Georgian champions Iberia Tbilisi. On the road, STVV will travel to face FC Midtjylland in Denmark, Lugano in Switzerland, and Hajduk Split in Croatia.

Bijzonder fijne thuisaffiche voor STVV: het verwelkomt binnenkort de Nederlandse recordkampioen Ajax. Net als bij KAA Gent komt ook het Noorse Brann langs. Tournament Format and Match Schedule

The Conference League operates under a streamlined league phase format matching the structure of other European competitions, though featuring a reduced total of six matches per team instead of eight (Ajax.nl). Participating clubs are divided across six pots, with automated software determining home and fixtures while preventing matchups between clubs from the same country (Ajax.nl).

In de League Phase zijn er opnieuw zes speeldagen: 15 oktober (1e), 22 oktober (2e), 5 november (3e), 26 november (4e), 10 december (5e) en de slotspeeldag vindt plaats op 17 december. De play-offs staan ingepland op 18 en 25 februari. De 1/8e finales worden 11 en 18 maart afgewerkt.
