Vivo is preparing to launch its new flagship smartphone lineup, the Vivo X500 series, in China next month. Expanding beyond its previous two-model strategy, the upcoming series will introduce three distinct variants—Vivo X500, Vivo X500 Pro, and Vivo X500 Pro Max—bringing major upgrades to camera systems and video recording capabilities.
Smartphone manufacturer Vivo is restructuring its flagship release strategy, skipping the traditional X400 moniker entirely and moving directly from the X300 to a three-tier lineup.
Cultural naming conventions also play a role in the shift. As noted by Jagran, the number four is traditionally considered unlucky in China and parts of eastern Asia, leading the company to bypass the X400 label.
Three Variants Led by the Vivo X500 Pro Max
While the Vivo X300 series offered only two variants, the upcoming launch brings a trio of devices.
Zeiss Partnership and Advanced Sensor Integration
Imaging upgrades anchor the new generation. The Pro models feature a Zeiss-tuned camera system developed in collaboration between Vivo’s BluePrint imaging team and Sony, as reported by Jagran.
Company specifications indicate the hardware achieves an ultra-high dynamic range of up to 17EV, designed to preserve details in high-contrast back-lit environments by balancing highlights and shadows.
High-Frame-Rate 4K Video Recording and Professional Stabilization
Video capability receives a substantial performance bump across the upper tier. The Vivo X500 Pro series supports 4K video recording at an ultra-smooth 240 frames per second, alongside 4K HDR recording at 120fps with direct HDR output.
Exclusive hardware additions set the Vivo X500 Pro Max apart from the rest of the lineup. The Pro Max model incorporates a three-degree wide-angle optical image stabilization system alongside CIPA 7.0 professional-grade image stabilization. According to Jagran, these stabilization features enable steady video capture without requiring a separate physical gimbal.
Additional hardware leaks point to a massive telephoto upgrade. Information from tipster Digital Chat Station indicates an internal codename of Thanos 500 for the series, which is expected to house a large-format 200MP HP0 sensor with a periscope lens, mirroring the telephoto capabilities seen in the Vivo X300 Ultra.
