A 3-meter-diameter, Poké Ball-shaped hotel has opened by a lakeside in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, as part of an event campaign for the mobile game Pokémon Sleep. Developed by Not A Hotel, the secluded, single-unit accommodation offers a free two-day stay for 10 winning pairs selected through a social media lottery closing September 30, 2026.
Fans of the Pokémon franchise can now experience what it is like to stay inside the series’ most iconic capture tool. Space planning and hospitality startup Not A Hotel has constructed a spherical, 3-meter-wide red-and-white structure in a forested lakeside area of Tomakomai, Hokkaido, as reported by outlets including the Asahi Shimbun. The project merges real-world architecture with the digital ecosystem of Pokémon Sleep, an application developed in part by The Pokémon Company to track and analyze rest patterns.

While marketed as a hotel, the standalone unit functions much like an upscale capsule accommodation. The room is fashioned after the item used to catch the eponymous critters of the Pokémon franchise, with the property being a partnership between Not A Hotel and Pokémon Sleep, as noted by UA.News.
Guests inside the capsule can interact with an in-room tablet PC to select their favorite creature from the franchise. Once the lights go out, automated lighting effects shift to match that character’s specific concept. Auxiliary facilities include a nearby washroom and an annex building featuring shower rooms decorated with tiles inspired by Snorlax, the famously slumbering Pokémon known as Kabigon in Japan. Visitors also have access to a dedicated dining space featuring displays of sleeping Pokémon about a five-minute walk from the main capsule.

Raffle Terms and Lottery Requirements
Public bookings are not available for the installation. Instead, organizers are granting overnight access exclusively through a social media lottery system. Eligibility is restricted to residents of Japan aged 18 and older who actively use the sleep-tracking mobile application.
To secure a reservation, applicants must follow the official Pokémon Sleep account on X, click a designated campaign button to publish a post, and complete an application form and survey delivered automatically via direct message. Entries remain open through September 30, 2026.
Stay Schedule and Financial Logistics
The campaign will accommodate a total of 10 selected pairs, amounting to 20 individual guests. Winning participants are scheduled to stay at the property from October 8 to 18, 2026.
The two-day, one-night experience covers both dinner and breakfast at no charge. However, participants are entirely responsible for their own transportation expenses to and from the Hokkaido site, alongside any personal incidentals incurred during the trip.
