The Ministry of Works and Transport has dismissed five members of the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) board of directors and appointed an interim board effective 04 August 2026. Minister Veiiko Nekundi stated the move aims to strengthen governance and ensure operational continuity at the state-owned enterprise.

Minister of Works and Transport Veiiko Nekundi terminated the appointments of five Namibia Airports Company directors with immediate effect. The officials removed from their positions are Ms. Elizabeth Renay Peterson, Mr. Lucien Lleweyllyn Mouton, Mr. Matheus //Gowaseb, Ms. Carol Rosheta Williams, and Mr. Ferdinand Nghiyolwa.
To maintain leadership, the ministry introduced a new temporary board of directors tasked with guiding the NAC toward improved performance and efficiency. The interim board, which took office on 04 August 2026, includes Rosalinde Nakale as chairperson and Otniel Podewiltz as deputy chairperson. Other appointed members are Sophia Kasera, Phillip Iifo, Loide Ekandjo, and Natacha Kandombo.

Minister Nekundi cited specific constitutional and legislative mandates for the board restructuring. The dismissal was executed under Articles 40(a) and 41 of the Namibian Constitution, which define ministerial executive duties. Additionally, the action complied with Section 228 of the Companies Act (Act 28 of 2004) and Article 18 of the Constitution, which requires administrative officials to exercise their authority in a fair and reasonable manner.
