The responding officer noted that the patient did not appear to have any obvious physical reasons for unresponsiveness. Emergency medical services workers declared Panettiere dead at 2:31 p.m., according to 1news. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office stated that authorities received a 911 call around 1:50 p.m. on Sunday regarding a reported cardiac arrest at the residence where Panettiere had been temporarily staying, noting that an acquaintance made the call.
According to the police report, the responding officer first spoke with Zach Hickerson, who appeared very emotional while emergency professionals worked on Panettiere. The report states that Brian Hickerson did not become visibly emotional until EMS officially declared Panettiere dead. Brian Hickerson also showed police a bag of medication that Panettiere had been taking. The officer later escorted the brothers out of the apartment and spoke with Brian more in depth, though details of that conversation and a list of Panettiere’s medications were redacted in the released report.
