File Size and System Requirements for Nintendo Switch 2
Players preparing for the digital launch of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will need to clear 29.5GB of space on their system, according to the official eShop listing. That footprint makes the new Dagdan Empire entry significantly larger than its predecessors. Fire Emblem: Three Houses required 11.5GB, while Fire Emblem Engage took up 16.5GB.
First-party Nintendo titles frequently receive day-one and post-launch updates that alter the final installation size. The physical and digital release arrives simultaneously worldwide on September 17, 2026. Earlier this week, Nintendo also revealed estimated file sizes for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Metroid Ravenous.
Narrative Structure and Time-Travel Mechanics
The story unfolds in the Dagdan Empire on the continent of Dagda, located far to the southwest of Three Houses’ setting of Fódlan. In the empire’s capital city of Dagsion, fighters gather to compete in the Heroic Games, where the winner is granted a single wish. Five years after those games, the empire faces total destruction at the hands of a revived demon god named Balor, and four key heroes who participated in the tournament have vanished.
The goddess Sothis charges the player’s soul with saving the world by traveling back in time five years. Rather than needing to play through each hero’s route separately, the game allows players to play through all four heroes’ stories in parallel. From each Hero’s story, you can travel through time again to change to a different path, and progress is saved for each of the Heroes.
The Four Main Heroes
Journey back to the time of the Heroic Games and take up arms as one of the four Heroes, with the choice determining how the narrative unfolds:
Cai: Hailing from the peaceful village of Ribeira, Cai sets out with his childhood friends to win the Heroic Games and save his imprisoned father.
Dietrich: After washing ashore following an attack from an enormous monster, Dietrich decides to slake his thirst for battle by competing in the Heroic Games with new allies at his side.
Theodora: Hailing from the kingdom of Saramis, Theodora leads her veteran retainers into battle to restore the honor of her goddess—the loathed Keeper of Death and Night—and defend the peace of her kingdom.
Leda: Born into prestige and blessed with musical talent, Leda gives up everything to seek revenge against her father’s murderer. With companions in tow, she enters the Heroic Games after learning that the killer will be fighting as well.
Gameplay Showcases and Previews
Following a Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo held an additional Nintendo Treehouse: Live stream showing plenty of gameplay. The broadcast featured two distinct segments: the first twenty-five minutes focused on the tactical combat system, while a fifty-minute segment examined exploration and town gameplay. Nintendo Korea also shared an extended trailer.
Fortune's Weave is dense, and I have been overwhelmed by its size on more than one occasion, but as I approached the end of the preview section, I could feel myself falling for its complexity,
stated a preview. This might just be the ultimate take on the Three Houses formula, and much to my surprise, I'm completely on board with it.
Merchandise Lineup and Collectibles
Intelligent Systems will release a merchandise collection on September 17, 2026, the same day the Switch 2 game launches. The lineup primarily features emblems of the four main factions alongside the four representative heroes: Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda. The collection includes:

The merchandise will appear at select physical stores across Japan. Most participating chains will stock the items in Tokyo’s Akihabara district, while selected outlets will also offer them in other Tokyo locations, Sapporo, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Additionally, Intelligent Systems announced plans to release 1/7 scale figures of Leda and Theodora in a first wave, with a release window to be announced later.
