IFA Berlin 2026: AI and Robot Mowers Dominate Tech Fair

Robot lawn mowers and proactive artificial intelligence dominated Berlin’s IFA 2026 tech fair as more than 220,000 visitors explored home automation. Major brands including Dreame, Segway, Haier, and Hisense showcased autonomous yard care, wearable exoskeletons, and multi-device ecosystems at the world’s largest consumer electronics event.

Representatives from leading global technology companies gathered in Berlin for IFA 2026, drawing roughly 220,000 visitors and 2,000 exhibitors to the world’s largest consumer electronics, home appliances, and future tech event. Among the massive displays of home appliances and consumer hardware, Chinese manufacturers maintained a powerful footprint at the century-old exhibition. German broadcaster rbb24 reported that 928 companies from the Chinese mainland participated, alongside 84 from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Autonomous Yard Care Steals the Show at IFA 2026 Outdoor and Indoor Exhibitions

While humanoid robots walked the convention halls, robotic lawn mowers emerged as the standout product category of the conference. Organizers set up an outdoor exhibition area for machines to operate in real-life conditions, though indoor displays featuring steep slopes and heavy obstacles proved even more striking.

Reflecting on the industry’s rapid maturity, IFA CEO Leif Linder noted the interest in robot lawn mowers reminds me of where robot vacuums were a few years ago, pointing out that modern units now handle yards on autopilot and adapt to complex terrain.

“These mowers handle the yard on autopilot, adapt to terrain and weather, and give you time back every week. Robotics become truly extraordinary when they take care of your problems instead of becoming one more thing you have to manage, and robotic lawn mowers have just crossed that threshold.”

Dreame and Segway Push Precision Cutting and All-Terrain Performance

Hardware manufacturers used the Berlin exhibition to solve persistent yard-care frustrations, particularly the challenge of achieving clean edges without manual trimming. Dreame exhibited its Dreame A4 AWD Pro Series, which integrates a designated auxiliary blade setup near the mower’s perimeter to secure an edge-to-edge cut.

Segway also drew crowds by showcasing hardware suited for larger properties. The brand displayed the Segway Navimow X430 robot lawn mower, designed to handle lawns measuring up to one acre with zero-turn maneuvering to prevent turf damage. Operating quietly under 68 decibels, the model retails for $2,249 at Amazon. Meanwhile, Yarbo presented a modular alternative capable of converting from a summer lawn mower into a leaf collector or snow blower.

Haier and Hisense Pivot Toward Proactive Artificial Intelligence

Inside the home appliance pavilions, artificial intelligence shifted from passive command-following into proactive household assistance. Haier, recognized as the world’s market leader for major home appliances by sales volume for 17 years in a row, kicked off the event by revealing an official partnership with the UEFA Champions League.

Haier Europe CEO Neil Tunstall emphasized that AI really is a massive change for home appliances, explaining that devices now suggest recipes to reduce food waste through smart refrigerators equipped with freshness-monitoring cameras.

“Instead of doing what you tell it, it can suggest things. AI is becoming more proactive, more than just reactive.”

Beyond kitchen appliances, Haier displayed a four-drum washing machine and a wearable exoskeleton designed to strap onto the body to assist individuals with mobility challenges. Similarly, Hisense introduced its AI Companion Suite across refrigerators, wine cabinets, and washing machines. Bostjan Pecnik, vice-president of Hisense Europe, stated that the home appliance industry is at a turning point as devices evolve into supportive home companions.

DJI and Consumer Robotics Expand Household and Aerial Capabilities

Drone manufacturer DJI used IFA 2026 to exhibit a diverse lineup spanning compact devices and agricultural equipment. A DJI representative noted that new hardware offerings including the Osmo 360 II, Romo 2 Series, Osmo Pocket 4P, and Mic Mini 2S were built to elevate daily routines through high-definition capture and mechatronics.

Everyday technology takes centre stage at IFA Berlin 2026

Eliane Fiolet, co-founder and editor of consumer technology news outlet Ubergizmo, told China Daily that the massive presence of Chinese exhibitors highlights a profound shift in manufacturing dominance. Having covered the Berlin exhibition for more than 10 years, Fiolet observed that ten years ago, a bit less, but now the dominance is really obvious regarding hardware quality and design excellence in household robotics.
