Pokémon Sleep players can now encounter the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo in an unexplored realm on Greengrass Isle during a two-week special research event running from September 14 to September 28, 2026. The event combines global player Drowsy Power and requires cooperation from the Mythical Pokémon Mew to unlock rare sleep styles.
Unexplored Realm Research and Event Schedule
An elusive and powerful Pokémon has arrived in Pokémon Sleep, bringing a two-week research expedition that challenges trainers to explore a mysterious territory. According to Professor Neroli, Mewtwo resides in an unexplored realm within Greengrass Isle, where careful tracking can reveal rare sleep styles that do not normally appear during standard rest sessions (Pokémon Sleep: Unexplored Realm Research! Pursue Mewtwo Event). The survey is split into two distinct operational weeks, giving researchers specific windows to collect unique rewards and encounter targeted bonuses.
- Week One: Monday, September 14, 2026, at 4:00 a.m. to Monday, September 21, 2026, at 3:59 a.m. (or 9:00 PDT start in official notices).
- Week Two: Monday, September 21, 2026, at 4:00 a.m. to Monday, September 28, 2026, at 3:59 a.m. (concluding at 8:59 PDT).
- Event Exchange: Open from Monday, September 14, 2026, at 4:00 a.m. to Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 3:59 a.m., allowing trades across all areas after the main event closes.
During this period, regular map selection is restricted. Trainers must conduct their research exclusively within Greengrass Isle and Greengrass Isle (Expert) zones. Cooperation from the Mythical Pokémon Mew is described as essential for advancing the survey due to its distinct curiosity regarding Mewtwo’s rare sleep styles.
Global Drowsy Power and Mewtwo Mechanics
Progress through the mysterious territory relies on a communal metric. The average Drowsy Power generated by researchers worldwide is pooled together with individual totals to accumulate Event Drowsy Power. This pooled strength allows the community to push deeper into the heart of the realm and unlock special milestones.
Mewtwo officially debuts on September 14, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., appearing with a Snoozing sleep type exclusively across Greengrass Isle, Greengrass Isle (Expert), and Cyan Beach (Expert). Mechanics for the Legendary Pokémon introduce the Psystrike (Berry Zone) main skill. When activated, Snorlax gains Strength, and a persistent Berry Zone is created at the site. While this zone is active, Strength gathered from Mago Berries (Psychic) increases and stacks with subsequent skill activations until it reaches maximum effectiveness, remaining even if Mewtwo is rotated off the helper team.
Trainers can hold only one Special Pokémon on their team simultaneously. For the first Mewtwo befriended by each researcher, the nature and sub-skills remain identical.
Weekly Bonuses and Event Exchange Items
Research efforts receive substantial boosts through alternating weekly perks and daily modifiers. Having Mew or Mewtwo active on a sleep team multiplies the generated Drowsy Power, while specialized items help secure encounters.
| Event Phase | Key Bonuses & Multipliers |
|---|---|
| All Event Days | Psychic-type helper Pokémon yield one extra ingredient per drop, and their main skill trigger rate is multiplied by 1.5. Mewtwo won’t get full easily during the first snack time of the day. |
| Week 1 (Sept 14–20) | Helper Pokémon carry limit increases by 8. Psychic-type helper main skill levels receive a +2 boost upon triggering. |
| Week 2 (Sept 21–27) | A big Snorlax appears from a raised starting Strength. Having Mewtwo on the team multiplies Drowsy Power by 1.3, and helper carry limits increase by 15. Psychic-type skill levels receive a +5 boost. |
Gathering Mewtwo DNA samples through sleep research is restricted to the active event window. These samples can be traded at the Event Exchange for specialized supplies, including Mewtwo Incense, Mewtwo Biscuits, and Main Skill Seeds, designed to facilitate tracking down the elusive Pokémon’s sleep patterns.
Very Big Mago Berries and Helper Priority
Exploration of the unexplored realm uncovers Very Big Mago Berries that surpass normal sizes and provide considerable Strength to Snorlax, which has Mago Berries set as a favorite throughout the event. Helper Pokémon routinely gather these oversized provisions, with yield amounts varying by species.
According to event documentation, Mew, Mewtwo, and Psychic-type helper Pokémon recover the highest volume of these special berries, followed by other standard helper species. The subskill Berry Finding S does not apply to these special drops, and berries cannot be transferred to Snorlax during Sneaky Snacking periods.
