Chennai Super Kings pledged a full board review following an undercover investigation linking a franchise player to match-fixing activities during the 2025 Indian Premier League season. The allegations claim confidential playing XI information was sold to London-based bookmakers for large sums per match.
The upcoming board review comes ahead of the franchise’s Annual General Meeting scheduled for September 25, where officials plan to formally discuss the unverified claims.
Undercover Investigation Details Playing XI Information Leak
The controversy stems from an undercover investigation conducted by Tehelka, which reported that a Chennai Super Kings player supplied confidential team lineups to a Delhi-based former first-class cricketer. According to the undercover reporting, this middleman allegedly sold the restricted information to bookmakers operating in London.
The expose further alleged that the same player indicated a willingness to establish similar data flows for the 2026 season if his source could be secured at auction for a reported rate of 1 crore rupees, backed by a 90 percent accuracy guarantee. However, that source was ultimately not selected in the auction.
DDCA Responds to Delhi Premier League Irregularity Reports
The undercover findings extended beyond the Indian Premier League to include classified team details from the Delhi Premier League.
In response, the Delhi and District Cricket Association issued a statement addressing the irregularities while urging caution before drawing conclusions.
DDCA would like to clarify that the allegations referred to in these reports are unverified and have not been established by any competent authority. The association believes it would be inappropriate to draw conclusions about any individual, player or franchise based solely on such allegations.

the official stated, while emphasizing that the circulating information lacks independent verification.
These developments carry heightened sensitivity for the franchise, which previously served a two-year suspension after a member of its promoter group faced illegal betting involvement. As the board prepares to convene ahead of the September 25 meeting, neither the Board of Control for Cricket in India nor the International Cricket Council Anti-Corruption Unit has issued public comments regarding the specific allegations raised in the Tehelka investigation.
