Apple Music Select brings stations to iCloud+ subscribers

Apple has expanded its iCloud+ subscription in Singapore and over 100 other countries to include Apple TV and Apple Arcade at no additional cost, while also introducing ad-free Apple Music Select stations designed to boost engagement in emerging regional digital music markets.

Apple has significantly revamped its cloud subscription model, rolling out a major expansion that bundles streaming entertainment directly into paid storage plans. Starting this month, users subscribing to iCloud+ across more than 100 countries and regions gain access to Apple TV and Apple Arcade without paying extra fees.

Singapore Pricing Tiers and Regional Rollout Details

In Singapore, the expanded iCloud+ plans start at S$1.48 per month for the 50GB plan, with users able to select larger storage tiers to fit their personal needs. The global rollout targets over 100 countries and regions through the end of September, bringing the services to emerging and established markets alike, including India, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore. With this expansion, Apple TV broadens its global reach into 59 new countries, bringing its total availability to 170 countries worldwide.

As part of this transition, standalone subscriptions for Apple Arcade and Apple TV will no longer be available as individual purchases directly through Apple in Singapore. Families can also take advantage of Family Sharing, allowing up to five additional family members to share any iCloud+ plan at no additional cost.

Apple Music Select Introduces Curated Stations to Emerging Markets

Alongside video streaming and gaming, iCloud+ subscribers in over 100 countries are gaining access to Apple Music Select, which Billboard reports is a limited version of Apple Music. According to a company representative, the strategic shift is aimed at boosting paying Apple Music subscribers in emerging markets. Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music, has historically maintained that he does not believe in a completely free tier for a music streaming service. While the Apple Music Select feature is included at no extra cost, iCloud+ itself requires a paid subscription starting at roughly a dollar a month.

Apple Music Select offers a curated handful of stations picked by editors to give users a taste of the full catalog. The offerings feature locally relevant stations programmed to specific regions, alongside genre- and era-based stations. Described in reporting as a lean-back audio experience, the service streams entirely without ads.

“Apple’s initiative brings a fresh, innovative approach to connecting wider audiences with digital music across emerging regions. By championing domestic artists through dedicated programming, Apple will actively help develop the local digital music ecosystems where Believe’s artists thrive every day.”

Denis Ladegaillerie, founder and CEO, Believe

To encourage users to transition from the limited tier to the complete platform, iCloud+ subscribers will receive offers to subscribe to the full music streaming service at a lowered monthly price, with rates varying depending on the user’s location.

Entertainment Catalogs Integrated Into Cloud Subscriptions

Subscribers utilizing the updated iCloud+ tiers gain immediate access to Apple TV’s library of original series, feature films, and documentaries. Apple TV has garnered more than 900 wins and over 3,800 award nominations since its worldwide launch on November 1, 2019. Current offerings span multi-Emmy Award-winning comedies like The Studio and Ted Lasso, cultural phenomena like Severance, and feature films including CODA and F1.

In addition to video and music, users gain unlimited access to Apple Arcade, which features a curated catalog of over 200 games. The platform maintains strict privacy standards with no ads, no in-app purchases, and full offline play support across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV 4K.
