The spiritual drama Hanuman Ansh has surpassed the Rs 300 crore milestone in worldwide gross collections, emerging as a surprise box office success. According to Indiatimes, the film’s worldwide gross total climbed to Rs 316.30 crore by Day 43 of its theatrical run.
Box Office Performance and Growth
Released on August 7, Hanuman Ansh initially struggled to find an audience, earning only Rs 1.50 crore in its first two weeks after an opening of Rs 10 lakh. However, the film gained momentum through positive word of mouth, particularly during its third and fourth weeks. By Day 43, the film’s India net collection reached Rs 248.38 crore, while its India gross collection stood at Rs 293.30 crore. The remaining Rs 23.00 crore of its worldwide total came from overseas markets, where the film released on September 11.
The film’s growth is highlighted by its weekly net contributions:
- Week 1: Rs 1.08 crore
- Week 2: Rs 0.40 crore
- Week 3: Rs 10.40 crore
- Week 4: Rs 61.00 crore
- Week 5: Rs 90.25 crore
On its seventh Friday, September 18 (Day 43), the movie recorded a net collection of Rs 5.00 crore from 6,462 shows, representing a 20% decline from the previous day’s earnings of Rs 6.25 crore. The film’s occupancy on Day 43 was 18.72%, with the highest engagement occurring during night shows at 27.08%.
Investment and Profitability
Produced on a reported budget of just Rs 2 crore, Hanuman Ansh has delivered a high return on investment. By Day 39, the film had recorded an estimated profit of Rs 214.46 crore. Producer Anupriya Nagar, 21, stated to ANI that she contributed one-third of the budget using her own savings because of a strong emotional connection to the project. Nagar noted that while the team had completed the film, they initially lacked funds for post-production.

Despite its lower total earnings compared to blockbusters like Dhurandhar 2—which earned Rs 1,813.39 crore—Hanuman Ansh outperformed the Dhurandhar films in terms of profit relative to investment. For comparison, Dhurandhar 1 and Dhurandhar 2 were made on a combined budget of Rs 255 crore and earned a combined India net of Rs 2,298.60 crore.
Plot and Production
Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the film is a biographical devotional drama based on Chaturvedi’s book, Divine Detour: That Changed My Life. It serves as the first installment of a planned trilogy. The story is set in pre-Independence India and follows young Lakshmi Narayan, who embarks on a spiritual journey across Northern India following the death of his mother. This journey leads to his transformation into the revered saint Neem Karoli Baba, also known as Maharaj Ji.

The film stars Shobhinaw Satyaa and Chandan Anand in lead roles, alongside Vihaan Shedge, Purnima Tiwari, Anil Rastogi, Gulshan Pandey, Sugandha Malhotra, Bhagvandas Patel, and Neha Paranjpe. According to ThePrint, Neem Karoli Baba was born around 1900 in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district and died in 1973; his devotees include figures such as Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma, and Julia Roberts, while Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg reportedly visited his ashram in Kainchi Dham.
Industry Standing
Hanuman Ansh has emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of the year in India. It has out-earned Mirzapur: The Movie, which earned Rs 221.72 crore gross, and surpassed the lifetime collection of Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla, which was over Rs 250 crore. It currently ranks as the fourth-highest grossing film of the year in India, trailing Dhurandhar 2, Border 2, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
