The range features unexpected items like giant thumbstick stools and D-pad cushions designed to blend mainstream living room decor with gaming culture, priced from £12 up to £115 per item.
Living rooms are getting a distinctly green-and-black makeover this fall. Marking the approaching 25th anniversary of the first Xbox console, IKEA has teamed up with Microsoft to launch a nine-piece homeware collection named YXSTABY (according to IGN). The collection moves away from traditional, isolated gaming setups like teen bedrooms and man caves, aiming instead for mainstream domestic spaces.

The collection was developed through a close collaboration between IKEA and Xbox designers working side by side as detailed by Purexbox, combining IKEA’s decades of home-furnishing expertise with Xbox’s deep understanding of player habits. The undisputed visual stars of the collection are the green and black thumbstick stools, which draw direct inspiration from Xbox controller hardware. IKEA product design developer Philip Dilé explained to The Verge that the overarching goal was to adapt to shifting home habits.

The textured rubber rings on the base mirror the swappable thumbsticks of Elite controllers, providing grip according to WIRED. Designer David Wahl noted that the stool even tilts dynamically as you lean, echoing the physical motion of a thumbstick during intense gaming sessions.
