Kushner set to visit Israel, Egypt next week for Gaza talks

President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will travel to Israel and Egypt next week alongside Board of Peace officials to advance plans for Gaza. The diplomatic push follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of a 15-point postwar proposal.

A high-level diplomatic delegation led by Jared Kushner is heading to the Middle East to try to advance plans for an end to the conflict in Gaza. The upcoming visit comes as the administration’s recently announced postwar framework runs directly into Israeli political opposition.

Jared Kushner, Tony Blair, and Nickolay Mladenov Schedule Cairo and Israel Itinerary

According to an official with the Board of Peace, Kushner will arrive in Israel on Sunday alongside board high representative Nickolay Mladenov and executive board member Tony Blair according to a Board of Peace official. The international consortium was established by Trump to oversee the fragile ceasefire in the region and implement its postwar roadmap for the territory.

Following their discussions in Israel, the delegation will travel to Cairo. Meetings involving a Palestinian technocratic group—which is slated to assume administrative control of Gaza under the U.S.-brokered ceasefire arrangement—have been taking place in the Egyptian capital for the past several months, the official said.

Benjamin Netanyahu Rejects the 15-Point Postwar Proposal

The high-stakes diplomatic mission was organized after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a 15-point proposal put forward by the Board of Peace. Unveiled late last month, the roadmap calls for disarming Hamas, placing Gaza under a new Palestinian government, and withdrawing Israel’s military from the territory.

While Hamas accepted the plan to decommission its weapons, Netanyahu stated in recent days that Israel will not withdraw its forces until Hamas has completely disarmed, marking a rare public display of friction with the Trump administration.

Board of Peace Targets Demilitarized Reconstruction and Sustainable Security

Despite the current diplomatic friction between Washington and Jerusalem, the upcoming meetings aim to demonstrate the determination of Trump and the Board of Peace to see peace, prosperity and sustainable security emerge in a demilitarized Gaza where Hamas has ceded control.

The current push builds upon an October ceasefire agreement that successfully halted major military operations and secured the release of the remaining hostages held in Gaza. However, implementing the subsequent phases of the roadmap has repeatedly stalled, leaving next week’s talks in Israel and Egypt as a critical test for Washington’s postwar strategy.
