The renewable energy push marks a significant milestone for the region. Minister Nara Lokesh inaugurated the development at Hulikera village in the Kanekallu Mandal of Rayadurgam constituency, according to official reports. The initiative brings in an investment of ₹10,000 crore to generate 1,325 MW of renewable capacity and create over 4,000 direct and indirect jobs. Lokesh emphasised that the Andhra Pradesh-Suzlon partnership heralds a new chapter for the state, reviving a legacy built over two decades ago by Suzlon’s late founder, Tulsi Tanti. Paying tribute to Tanti’s visionary belief in energy self-reliance, Lokesh noted that Suzlon’s existing manufacturing plant in Anantapur already has an annual capacity of 1,260 MW, employing 1,200 people, over 70 percent of whom are locals.

Suzlon Energy Limited (SEL) has maintained a deep operational presence in the Anantapur district since starting operations there in 2004. The company has emerged as the largest wind energy developer in Andhra Pradesh (AP) with an installed capacity of over 1,700 MW. Existing facilities include a rotor blade manufacturing unit in the Uravakonda constituency. Overall, Suzlon accounts for nearly 1,600 MW of installed capacity in the state, with another 2,700 MW under active development. Looking toward the end of the decade, the company has plans to establish an additional 5,000 MW of Renewable Energy (RE) projects in the State by 2030.
Powering Data Centers and Industrial Clusters
State officials are pairing the manufacturing expansion with a broader economic strategy. Outlining the state’s broader energy vision, the Minister stated that Andhra Pradesh is targeting an ambitious 175 GW of renewable energy capacity. He explained that while solar power drives daytime supply, wind energy combined with storage technologies is vital to keep the state’s 24/7 economy, hospitals, and growing industrial ecosystem running uninterrupted. He added that the state is currently building a 6.5 GW data centre ecosystem, which alone will unlock a 25 GW green energy opportunity. by exporting green hydrogen and green ammonia to global markets. Highlighting a shift in regional employment dynamics, Lokesh remarked that Anantapur — once known for youth migrating in search of work — has transformed into an industrial hub defined by Kia cars, fighter jets, and Suzlon clean energy.

To support the influx of industrial projects, the government is collaborating directly with industry leaders. SEL has been executing wind energy projects in collaboration with prominent companies like Tata Power. The company’s major customers include Tata Power, Waaree Forever Energies Pvt. Ltd, Helios Infratech Private Limited, Mytrah Vayu Private Limited, ReNew and Axis Wind Farms.
To sustain this momentum, the government is setting up 22 industrial clusters across sectors like pharmaceuticals, electronics, and automotive, while partnering with Suzlon to train 12,000 youth—including 25 percent women—in green energy skills at centres in Uravakonda and Vijayawada. Reinforcing chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s goal to create 20 lakh jobs statewide, Lokesh assured investors of speed, stability, and unyielding government support.
