Konami is offering the original 1986 Castlevania game for free on iOS and Android until October 24, 2026, marking the franchise’s 40th anniversary with a mobile direct port, alongside steep digital discounts on console and PC collections.
To celebrate the 40-year milestone of its iconic gothic horror franchise, Konami has launched a limited-time giveaway of the title that started it all. The original Nintendo Entertainment System version of Castlevania is now available to download for free on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The mobile port gives players a chance to experience the medieval journey of vampire hunter Simon Belmont navigating Dracula’s castle using an enchanted whip. Originally released on the Famicom Disk System in Japan on September 26, 1986, and followed by its international NES debut in 1987, the game laid the foundation for an action-platforming legacy that spans over 30 titles.
App Store Availability and Offline Play Details
The anniversary mobile release is available without charge until October 24, 2026. Konami confirmed that users who claim the app before that cutoff date can keep it tied to their accounts permanently.

Alongside the mobile giveaway, Konami rolled out deep price cuts on multiple series collections across digital storefronts.
- Castlevania Anniversary Collection is discounted by 80 percent on PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
- Castlevania Dominus Collection is marked down by 50 percent on PlayStation and Steam.
- Castlevania Advance Collection and Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood both feature 70 percent discounts.
- Steam users can also secure Lords of Shadow titles, the Mirror of Fate HD port, and the Revelations DLC at an 80 percent discount.
The anniversary festivities also precede upcoming franchise entries. Konami plans orchestral concerts in Tokyo, London, and Los Angeles in spring 2027, while the next mainline-adjacent release, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, arrives on October 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
