Sony has revealed its September 2026 PlayStation Plus Essential monthly games lineup, featuring four titles led by Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Chained Echoes, and Wobbly Life. Subscribers can claim the games starting September 1.
As summer draws to a close, Sony is shaking up libraries for paid subscribers across all subscription tiers.
Sniper Elite: Resistance and MLB The Show 26 Lead the Major Releases
The headline-grabbing titles span tactical combat and annual sports simulations. Oxford-based developer Rebellion’s historically grounded shooter, Sniper Elite: Resistance, arrives following its initial release in 2025. Push Square notes that the title maintains the series’ strong reputation for solid sniping mechanics and well-designed levels.
Alongside the tactical shooter sits MLB The Show 26 for the PlayStation 5. While baseball fans have a dependable sports simulation ready to play, the installment has faced criticism from players regarding changes made to established game modes, alongside mixed reviews.
Chained Echoes and Wobbly Life Bring Indie Depth to the September Lineup
Rounding out the four-game drop are two distinct indie titles that have earned high praise from critics. Chained Echoes puts players in control of mercenaries and misfits attempting to prevent an all-out war between kingdoms by stopping a crystal conspiracy that functions like a nuclear bomb. Reviewers highlight its sprawling world, novel combat twists, and beautiful SNES-style retro visuals, despite occasional pacing lags and grindy encounters.
The physics sandbox tasks players with finding jobs, completing mini-games, and exploring a wacky world. The title has earned comparisons to sandbox crime epics among younger audiences, with Respec’s Tom Orry describing it as GTA for kids
when it exited Early Access.

Subscriber Poll Results Reveal Deep Divisions Over the Monthly Drop
Player reactions to the September offering reflect a sharp split among the community. In community polling conducted by Push Square with numerous votes cast, 33 percent of respondents labeled the lineup a crap selection, while 18 percent called it disappointing. On the positive side, 17 percent reported feeling mostly happy and 8 percent were very happy, with 20 percent rating the games as okay and 5 percent indicating they do not subscribe to PS Plus.
When asked which specific title generated the most anticipation out of a poll of players, 41 percent of voters selected none of them. Among individual games, indie RPG Chained Echoes captured 18 percent of the vote, Sniper Elite: Resistance drew 24 percent, Wobbly Life claimed 4 percent, and MLB The Show 26 finished with 8 percent, while 5 percent reported having no subscription.
