Remedy Touts Control Resonant AAA Pricing to Drive Sales

Remedy Entertainment is banking on an accessible price point and aggressive international marketing to turn around its financial fortunes as the studio prepares for its largest release to date. The Finnish game developer reported its financial results for the second quarter and first half of 2026, revealing steep revenue declines while increasing marketing efforts for Control Resonant.

Financial Results Show Operating Losses and Revenue Declines

The studio’s financial outlook sits in the negative for the middle of 2026. Remedy reported that Q2 2026 revenue fell 40 percent to €10.2 million, which amounts to roughly $11.7 million, down from the same period last year. Operating loss for the quarter totaled €3.9 million, roughly $4.5 million, compared to a €0.5 million loss recorded in the same quarter last year.

For the first half of 2026 altogether, figures dropped 23.1 percent to €23.3 million, or about $26.8 million, with an operating loss of €2.9 million, roughly $3.3 million. Remedy attributed the year-on-year drops to the prior launch of FBC: Firebreak during the comparison period and the heavy spending required to market Resonant. Development fees from Resonant and the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake totaled €6.4 million, dropping from €7.4 million in the previous period.

Amid the financial contraction, established properties provided stability. Sales of 2019’s Control ticked upward in the second quarter, backed by ongoing marketing ahead of the sequel. Meanwhile, Alan Wake 2 passed three million lifetime sales, generating steady consumer royalties without platform deal accruals.

Control Resonant Targets a $60 AAA Price Standard

To capture player attention ahead of its September 24 release, Remedy is positioning Control Resonant at a $60 price point. In a crowded autumn window that features competing major releases, Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon told investors that the studio believes the game’s distinctiveness will help it stand out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

“Control Resonant will be available across all major platforms from day one and is priced attractively for an AAA title. Combined with the release window becoming slightly less crowded since our original reveal, we remain confident in our positioning.”

The pricing decision arrives as the broader industry splits on base rates for first-party titles. While Sony adopted a $70 standard for PlayStation 5 games in late 2020, and other publishers have pushed base pricing to $80 with premium editions reaching $100, Remedy is keeping Resonant at $60.

Global Marketing Push and Pre-Order Momentum

Remedy backed the upcoming launch with a hands-on world tour spanning seven cities across the United States, Latin America, and Europe. That visibility translated into early digital interest. The game crossed 1.5 million wishlists across all platforms, according to the company’s metrics.

Pre-orders opened with healthy momentum in June following a reveal trailer during Sony’s State of Play presentation and a second trailer at Summer Game Fest. Pre-orders currently rank among the top three on PlayStation in the United States, Germany, and Brazil.

“Early signals and commercial metrics give us confidence in the game’s potential, but our focus remains on bringing an outstanding game to the market and letting the results speak. I personally see the game getting stronger week by week and our marketing accelerates further in the third quarter.”

Jean-Charles Gaudechon, CEO of Remedy

Development on other fronts continues in parallel. Remedy confirmed that work on the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes remains active in production, while a separate unannounced project has advanced to production readiness. Control Resonant is scheduled to launch worldwide on September 24.
