Report: Emmanuel Acho comments spark NFL investigation of Dom DiSandro

The NFL is actively investigating Philadelphia Eagles head of security Domenico DiSandro, known widely as Big Dom, following comments former player Emmanuel Acho made on his Speakeasy podcast regarding a team-arranged police intervention after a minor car crash.

Emmanuel Acho Comments on Speakeasy Podcast

The league’s ongoing inquiry centers on remarks made in early August, during which Acho discussed an incident from his playing career according to Pro Football Talk. Acho described rear-ending another vehicle on his way to practice and contacting a team security official for assistance. According to his account, the security staffer instructed him to dismiss the initial responding officer, promising that a second, team-friendly officer would arrive to shift the blame to the other driver.

Derrick Gunn Reports NFL Investigation of Big Dom

While Acho played for three NFL franchises—including stints with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants before joining the Philadelphia Eagles—he did not explicitly name the team or security director involved during his podcast appearance. However, long-time Eagles reporter Derrick Gunn reported that the NFL is investigating Big Dom, with public speculation quickly connecting the anecdote to DiSandro’s tenure in Philadelphia.

Emmanuel Acho’s Podcast Claims and the Traffic Stop Allegations

The controversy ignited when Acho recounted the aftermath of the post-practice fender bender on the Speakeasy podcast. Every NFL team has a head of security, and for many, that role functions similarly to a fixer. During his playing days, Acho rear-ended another car after practice. (Generally speaking, it’s always your fault when you hit someone from behind as part of the obligation to maintain a safe distance behind the car in front of you.)

Acho explained that he contacted one of their security people. I [contacted] one of our security people, Acho said. He says, ‘Acho, when the cop shows up, send the cop away. I’m going to send you another cop. And that other cop is going to say it wasn’t your fault. It was their fault.’ I was like, ‘Wait, they do that?’

Acho then explained that a second cop did indeed arrive, and that the second cop found that the other driver was at fault. Acho added that, once the other driver found out that he played for the Eagles, she claimed that she and her daughter were injured. Our head of security had to offer them two home tickets plus signed jerseys, Acho said, and then were like, ‘Oh, no, we’re fine.’

Reactions and Investigation Updates

The NFL is still investigating Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro based on comments made by Emmanuel Acho on his Speakeasy Podcast back in early August. . . . Acho who played for 3 NFL teams never mentioned a name . But it has been widely speculated he was referring to Big Dom. Derrick

Asante Samuel Responds on X

The claims also drew criticism from former Philadelphia player Asante Samuel. Like I said before, watch who you do business with, Samuel wrote on X, resharing a Philadelphia Eagles Central report on September 9. We have an investigation going on because fool is dying for attention and a gossip queen smfh.

Acho had masked the name, but the city and year were narrowed down through details such as the off-ramp being close enough to the facility that teammates could see him being pulled over, with Google Maps connecting the dots. Acho’s NFL career spanned across three teams, including Cleveland and New York, with him joining Philadelphia twice, second and last. Among the maps of three facilities, the chances are high for New York and Philadelphia. It then comes to the longevity of his tenure, with him staying with the Giants for only 42 days, making the Eagles far more likely alongside DiSandro’s long tenure as the Eagles’ chief security officer.

Big Dom’s Background and Role with the Eagles

DiSandro is a longtime employee of the Eagles. He is the chief security officer for the team, but he also serves as a senior adviser to the general manager and the director of gameday coaching operations. His tenure with the Eagles started in 1999 when he became the assistant to the chief security officer Butch Buchanico after graduating from Penn State. The Pennsylvania native has worked his way up the ladder in the decades since his arrival.
