Swiss television network SRF is adapting Christine Brand’s bestselling crime novel Blind into a six-part thriller series, with a world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival on September 27, 2026, ahead of its broadcast and streaming release.
From Emmental Bestseller to Zurich Film Festival World Premiere
When Christine Brand published her crime novel Blind in 2019, it quickly became a top title for publisher Blanvalet, propelling the former NZZ am Sonntag court reporter into the ranks of Switzerland’s most popular contemporary writers alongside Martin Suter and Alex Capus. Now, Swiss broadcaster SRF is bringing that story to the screen as a six-part drama produced by the Zurich-based firm Zodiac Pictures, known for earlier series like Neumatt and Frieden.
The adaptation holds a special place on the festival circuit this autumn. The opening episode debuts on September 27 at 3:30 PM at the Zurich Film Festival, with author Christine Brand and members of the cast slated to attend. Just hours later, the television run begins.

Plot Adjustments and the Blind Protagonist
Der blinde Barkeeper Nathaniel Brenner taucht mitten in der Nacht blutverschmiert auf einer Polizeistation auf. Er behauptet, dass eine hochschwangere Frau aus seiner Bar entführt worden sei. Doch als die Polizei der Meldung nachgeht, scheint sich seine Geschichte zunächst nicht bestätigen zu lassen. Schon bald gerät Nathaniel selbst unter Verdacht. Um seine Unschuld zu beweisen, verbündet er sich mit seiner Freundin Milla Nova. Die investigative Journalistin beginnt auf eigene Faust zu recherchieren. Im Zuge ihrer Nachforschungen stoßen die beiden zusammen mit dem frisch beförderten Polizisten Sandro Bandini auf eine gefährliche Verschwörung und ein Lügengeflecht.
Standorte dieses gastronomischen Konzepts, in dem Gäste völlig im Dunkeln tappen und nachempfinden können, wie sich Blindheit anfühlt, existieren sowohl in Zürich als auch in Basel. Nathaniel Brenner, Christine Brands blinder Held aus «Blind», arbeitet als Kellner in einer dieser Blinden Kühe.
Actor Sven Schelker, who portrays Nathaniel, prepared for the role by collaborating closely with Daniela Moser, an employee of the Swiss Federation of the Blind and Visually Impaired. She is a Mitarbeiterin des Schweizer Blindenverbandes, and they met multiple times so she could teach him practical ways that a lack of vision affects daily life. Schelker noted that the training transformed how he understood daily perception, learning practical techniques such as filling a glass of water from a tap using only hearing, the weight of the glass, and changing sounds.
