The deadly blast struck the Aman Mela police checkpost in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday. According to initial assessments shared by Regional Police Officer Ghulam Mubashir Maken, the attack involved a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device slammed directly into the installation located near Mughal Kot along the Dera Ismail Khan–Quetta Road. A vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) was rammed into an anti-smuggling check post. Pakistani authorities noted that an automobile carrying explosives was driven into the Aman Mela police checkpoint situated in the Darazinda tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan, located inside Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Situated close to Mughal Kot and Darazinda along the Dera Ismail Khan–Quetta Road, the Aman Mela checkpoint serves law enforcement officers for security checks and inspections. Casualties Mount Across Personnel and Civilians

Security sources reported that the dead included six police personnel, two customs officials, two women, and a two-year-old child among the twelve fatalities. Initial counts varied slightly across local reporting; 35 injuries were cited, with 25 of the wounded rushed to the district headquarters hospital. The dead included nine men, two women and a minor. Insiders reported that the blast left upwards of 30 individuals hurt, encompassing civilians, customs staff, and police members. Informants indicated that several of the hurt individuals are in grave condition, prompting fears that the fatality count might increase.

The violence escalated further when a Rescue 1122 ambulance transporting injured victims from Darazinda toward Dera Ismail Khan came under heavy gunfire near Aman Mela. Two rescue workers, identified as Sharifullah and Imtiaz, were killed in the ambush, while a third worker named Anees sustained serious injuries. Fitna-ul-Khawarij also targeted an ambulance carrying wounded individuals from the DI Khan explosion, which consequently led to the martyrdom of two rescue personnel.

Fitna al Khawarij was blamed for the violence by Pakistani officials, which is a designation utilized by the government of Pakistan to denote the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
