AI-Powered 3D Modelers: Meshy Raises Nearly $400M for Its Text-to-3D Platform

Meshy, a developer of foundation models for AI-powered 3D generation, has raised nearly $400 million in a Series B funding round, according to announcements made on July 21, 2026. The round values the company at $1.5 billion, marking the largest funding round to date for a company built specifically for AI 3D and the first time Meshy has publicly disclosed its valuation.

The investment was backed by a group of leading global investors and included participation from all of the company’s existing investors. Meshy intends to use the proceeds primarily for international expansion and research and development, according to 3D Printing Industry.

Commercial Performance and Market Reach

As of July 2026, Meshy reports that its annual recurring revenue is growing approximately 12x year over year. The platform has more than 12 million registered users who have created over 100 million models. The company states that its tools are currently used by teams at five of the ten largest technology companies in the world by valuation or market capitalization.

The platform’s adoption extends across the cultural sector, design, 3D printing, and gaming. Specifically, Meshy’s partners and customers include 3D printing brands such as xTool, FlashForge, Elegoo, Creality, and Bambu Lab, as well as game companies including 37 Interactive Entertainment, NetEase Games, and Nexon, according to 3Dnatives.

New Product Releases and AI Agent

Coinciding with the funding, Meshy introduced several updates to its platform designed to transition AI-generated 3D content from screen-based visuals to production-ready assets. The company’s founder, MIT PhD Ethan Hu, aims to make 3D creation accessible to users regardless of their prior experience.

Central to these updates is the Meshy 3D Agent, described as the first AI agent for 3D creation. The agent can convert sketches, photos, a line of text, or a conversation into 3D models in formats such as STL, GLB, OBJ, and FBX. The agent is capable of brainstorming ideas, answering 3D-related questions via built-in Q&A, and generating concepts in batches.

Other technical updates include:

  • Smart Topology: A tool that generates native clean geometry in approximately 10 seconds. It allows for controllable polygon counts between 100 and 15,000, making it suitable for real-time rendering and game development.
  • Auto Split: A one-click feature for 3D printing that automatically repairs surfaces, arranges parts on a print bed, and breaks models into printable sections with seams aligned along concealed boundaries.
  • 8K Texture: A feature providing rich surface detail and clean color reproduction, which the company says is rolling out soon.

Production and Printing Integration

Meshy frames its objective as narrowing the gap between imagining an object and holding it. The company claims that work which previously required weeks of time, expensive software, and specialized skills can now be completed in about a minute for approximately one dollar.

To ensure these models are functional for physical production, Meshy reports that its tools achieve a slicer success rate of up to 97% for 3D printing. For digital production, the platform exports models compatible with Blender, Unreal, and Unity. While the company began in 3D, it has stated its intention to expand further into the broader creative ecosystem in the future, according to Prnewswire.
