Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra and a new Pro-branded flagship will support 60W wired charging, matching previous generation speeds.
Samsung is holding the line on wired power for its highest-end mobile devices. Certification filings from China’s 3C platform confirm that both the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra and the new Galaxy S27 Pro will maintain a 60W maximum wired charging speed, echoing the threshold introduced by the predecessor Galaxy S26 Ultra. For years, Samsung’s flagship phones had been limited to 45W fast charging, with the company sticking to the same charging speed across several generations before finally changing with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
China 3C Certification Details Model Numbers and Power Limits
The regulatory filings bring four specific model numbers into public view. Devices bearing model numbers SM-S9570 and SM-S9580 have cleared the 3C database, which cross-referencing with the GSMA IMEI database identifies as the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra. According to reporting, this marks the first time Samsung launches a Pro-branded S-series flagship.
Earlier database entries outline the rest of the family. Earlier this week, the Galaxy S27 (SM-S9520) and S27 Plus (SM-S9650) were spotted at 3C certification. The former was found to support 45W charging, whereas the latter would offer 27W charging. The entire lineup is expected to support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. True to form for recent flagship launches, retail boxes of these devices will not include a charger.
Design Shifts Point to an iPhone-Inspired Camera Plateau
While the standard Galaxy S27 and S27+ will look basically the same as last year’s models, the upper tier is getting a major visual overhaul. Serial Samsung leaker Ice Universe has posted an image that all but confirms the tribute, showing cases for each of Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S27 range: the Samsung Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra. While the Samsung Galaxy S27 and S27+ look a lot like their predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra and the brand new Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro (which is essentially shaping up to be a smaller Ultra) are taking a different direction, matching up with the renders posted recently on Android Headlines.
The width-spanning rectangular camera module looks a lot like the so-called “camera plateau” that Apple introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro. Observers note that we should probably also nod to the Xiaomi 17 Pro models here (including screens), given that they arrived around the same time, but it’s clear which manufacturer Samsung would have had its eye on here. Whether this will have any practical ramifications for the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra/Pro’s photographic skill remains to be seen, but there’s a chance it could be implemented to make sense for a meaty new camera system. The Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra, on the other hand, will have a new camera plateau on the back that will hopefully prevent them from wobbling on a table, as that is a notable problem with current-gen phones.
Battery Capacity Rumors and Q1 2027 Launch Timeline
Powering up those larger cells will take a little extra patience. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra was able to fully charge in around 45 minutes. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumored to get a 700mAh-1,000mAh larger battery, so it will take a bit further to charge, though the battery capacity has not been confirmed. When it comes to the Galaxy S26 Pro, we’re still not sure what battery capacity Samsung will go with. However, it is expected to have a smaller battery than the Galaxy S27 Ultra, as it will have a slightly smaller display.
Both of these smartphones will become official in Q1 next year. They’ll most likely arrive in January or February. Two other phones are coming with them: the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+. This is much earlier than the S26 series, which appeared in 3C’s database in January 2026 and debuted in March. The early certification of the S27 lineup suggests that these devices could be in line for a launch as early as January 2027.
