Cinematic Portrayal of Traumatic Memory
On the silver screen, Bonnaire appears in Sylvie Meyer’s Le Monde à l’endroit. Within an experimental framework, she portrays Muriel Salmona, a recognized pioneer in identifying the mechanisms of traumatic memory linked to sexist and sexual violence. The project holds personal resonance for Bonnaire, who has previously shared her own experiences surviving domestic abuse.
The Stage Collaboration on Sarah Kane’s Final Work
Simultaneously, Bonnaire returns to the theater alongside Jacques Osinski. Following their 2024 staging of Marguerite Duras’s L’Amante anglaise, the duo is tackling 4.48 Psychose, the seminal late-20th-century play by British writer Sarah Kane. Kane completed the fractured monologue shortly before her suicide at the King’s College Hospital in London in 1999 at age 28. The production utilizes a fresh translation by Vanasay Khamphommala and features the phantom-like cinematic presence of Frédéric Leidgens as the psychiatrist.
The staging unfolds without a curtain, utilizing stark neon lights and year-2000 projections that visually date the piece while Bonnaire delivers its harsh, repetitive text.
