“At the strong request of the United States Military, and for National Security purposes, I have agreed to convert the magnificent Triumphal Arch, planned since the Civil War Era many years ago, at the Receptive Circle adjoining the Arlington Memorial Bridge, into a top grade Military Complex/Triumphal Arch, to house, store, and have the rapid ability to use large numbers of drones, plus Snipers, on both the roof and plaza areas, and additionally have and hold large quantities of sniper ammunition in storage.”

The president posted on Truth Social that his planned 250-foot triumphal arch will now be loaded up with large numbers of drones, plus Snipers,
and insisted that the commemorative structure on the grounds of one of America’s most sacred spaces — Arlington National Cemetery — would become a top grade Military Complex.
The president cited national security concerns for the move, without mentioning any specific threats. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum shared images of the gilded memorial arch on social media earlier in September.
East Potomac Park Golf Course Redevelopment Plans
The project is part of the president’s broader drive to reshape Washington’s monumental landscape, including a new White House ballroom, renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and redevelopment of a golf course in East Potomac Park. The arch is proposed to be clad in granite and topped with three golden statues and have an observation deck. Mr. Trump said there will be no facility like this anywhere in the World.

The Federal Aviation Administration said that the 250-foot (76-meter) arch would not pose a hazard to aircraft but would be required to have an “eternal flameon top, clearing an aviation hurdle for the arch, which Trump proposed to mark the nation's 250th anniversary. An FAA spokesperson shared with The Hill on Saturday that there would additionally need to be
floodlight projectors pointed towards the Arch to make it noticeable for pilots.”
Despite the aviation clearance, the project confronts fierce opposition. Aviation experts have raised safety concerns given its proximity to Reagan Washington National Airport while veterans have sued to block the arch, arguing it would destroy the historic sightline between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. The plans have drawn criticism from preservationists and others who argue they could alter or diminish historic landmarks. The White House and the Department of Defense did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
